As part of the pre-finalizing quotation for the proposed Society building passage column repair job, Modern Constructions contractor, Mr. Basu visited the Society this evening for discussions and negotiations.
Mr. Basu was of the view that instead of doing patch work on the visible column cracks, for long-term structural integrity and consequently extending the life span of the building, it would be in the Society’s interests to consider column jacketing for all 3 affected columns. However, on further discussing the issue and actual work involved, it was found that for successfully completing the job as per Mr. Basu’s plan, Society’s internal repairs would also need to be carried out on the ground floor flats as part of the complete column jacketing procedure. Society Management Committee, after discussing the issue with the members present for the discussion, informed Mr. Basu that the implications of undertaking ground floor flats internal repairs, especially considering the current pandemic situation, clearly indicated that this method of job execution would be unfeasible at this time. Mr. Basu clearly disagreed with the Society’s idea of patch work on the affected columns and said he would prefer to withdraw his quotation.
Hence, Modern Construction’s quotation is treated as null and void effective today.
